Description:
3-Hydroxy-3-methylhexanoic acid is a fatty acid that is one of the metabolic products of leukocytes. It is formed in the body by conjugation with an acid and is excreted in urine. 3-Hydroxy-3-methylhexanoic acid has been shown to be a substrate for bacterial enzymes, such as corynebacterium, which can convert it to isovaleric acid. The analytical method for measuring 3-hydroxy-3-methylhexanoic acid in urine has been developed and validated on women.
