It also disrupts mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to an increase in reactive oxygen species and DNA damage. 4-Hydroxy-3-nitro-2(1H)-quinolinone is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) antagonist and blocks epidermal growth factor signaling through its inhibition of EGFR tyrosine kinase activity. It also downregulates TNFα expression in tumor cells by inhibiting NFκB activation.
