Description:11b-Hydroxyandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione is a synthetic substrate that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of prostate cancer cells. It was synthesized using a model system and in vitro synthesis. 11b-Hydroxyandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione also inhibits the production of growth factors by prostate cancer cells and blocks the synthesis of dinucleotide phosphate (DNP) which is required for DNA synthesis. This drug has been shown to have no effect on normal prostate tissue or urine samples from women with polycystic ovarian syndrome.
