Description:

15-Hydroxypentadecanoic acid is a fatty acid that has been shown to have a biological effect on animal molting. This compound can be used in the production of biodiesel and as a metal surface treatment. 15-Hydroxypentadecanoic acid has also been shown to have uptake properties for carbon disulphide. The optimum concentration for this compound is around 0.1M, and it is effective at concentrations up to 1M. 15-Hydroxypentadecanoic acid has been shown to fluoresce when exposed to UV light, which makes it useful in the detection of fatty acids using a fluorescence detector.
