Product Information
Name:4-Hydroxy-1-methyl-2(1H)-quinolone
Brand:Biosynth
Description:4-Hydroxy-1-methyl-2(1H)-quinolone is an acidic compound that is used as a synthetic intermediate in the preparation of chalcones. It can be synthesized from 4-hydroxycoumarin and a molecule containing a hydrogen bonding group. The 4-hydroxycoumarin reacts with the hydrogen bonding group to form an oxime, which is then hydrolyzed to yield 4-hydroxy-1-methyl-2(1H)-quinolone. The synthesis of this compound can be carried out using a number of different methods, but one efficient method involves the use of β-unsaturated ketones followed by treatment with hydrochloric acid and optical properties.
