Hesperetin is a natural compound that has been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It has been shown to protect cells from oxidative injury in vitro, as well as having effects on mitochondrial membrane potential and the activation of toll-like receptor 4. Hesperetin also has antiviral and anticancer activities that are mediated by its ability to inhibit the activity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) enzymes. The molecular docking study revealed that hesperetin binds with picolinic acid, which is an endogenous metabolite that is released during oxidative stress.
