Description:Fluorindine is a fluorophor that has been shown to modulate the interaction of biomolecules with the environment. It is synthesized by reacting potassium dichromate with 4-amino-1,6-dihydroxynaphthalene. Fluorindine has been observed to be fluorescent in the visible range, and also emits light in the ultraviolet range at wavelengths shorter than 320 nm. Fluorindine is soluble in water and acetone, but insoluble in ether or chloroform. The fluorescence quantum yield for this molecule is reported to be about 0.4%.
