Description:Hydrocortisone 21-aldehyde hydrate (HCA) is an estrogenic substance that can be found in the urine of pregnant women. It is a metabolite of hydrocortisone, as well as a byproduct of estradiol. Hydrocortisone 21-aldehyde hydrate has been shown to inhibit RNA synthesis and bind to DNA, which may be due to its oxidation products. The optimum pH for this compound is 7.6, and it has a low toxicity in the model system used. HCA also reacts with cortisol concentration and carbonyl group content in tissues and animals.
