• Description: (S)-4-Hydroxy mephenytoin is a metabolite of the antiepileptic drug phenytoin. It is produced by cytochrome P450 enzymes, such as CYP2C19 and CYP3A4. The production of (S)-4-hydroxy mephenytoin can be inhibited by drugs that inhibit these enzymes, such as isradipine, felodipine, or fluconazole.
