• Description: 6-Hydroxy methaqualone is a chiral drug that is metabolized by the liver to its active form, which is 6-hydroxy methaqualone. This active form inhibits the enzyme CYP3A4 and has a potent inhibitory effect on the activity of other enzymes in the liver, such as CYP2D6. 6-Hydroxy methaqualone has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of CYP2D6 in human liver microsomes. The elimination phase of 6-hydroxy methaqualone is longer than its halflife and can be found in urine samples for up to 12 hours after ingestion.
