    Description:4-Hydroxyanisole is an aromatic compound that inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as colony-stimulating factor. It also has anti-inflammatory properties in animal models. 4-Hydroxyanisole is a reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger, and has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes with iron centers. The toxicity of 4-hydroxyanisole has been studied in animal models and found to be low. This molecule is used as a model system for studying the reaction mechanism of ROS scavengers. The analytical method for determining its concentration involves gas chromatography with electron capture detection or liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry detection.
