Hydroxychloroquine is a 4-aminoquinolone that is used to prevent and treat malaria, caused by parasitic protozoan from the Plasmodium genus. Hydroxychloroquine is also used to treat non-infectious diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus thanks to its immunomodulatory properties.
