• Description: 1-Hydroxycyclopropanecarboxylic acid methyl ester is a potent inhibitor of phosphorylation. It binds to the ATP and ADP molecules, preventing them from binding to the phosphoryl transferase enzyme. This inhibits the phosphorylation of glucose, leading to an accumulation of phosphoglycolate and pyruvate in cells. 1-Hydroxycyclopropanecarboxylic acid methyl ester has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of cyclopropane-fatty acid synthase, which is involved in synthesis of fatty acids for energy storage. The diethyl succinate derivative is also known as ethylene dibromide. Condensation reactions between this compound and carboxylic acids produce diethyl succinates that are used as plasticizers in polymers such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
