Hydroxyurethane is a dinucleotide phosphate that inhibits the synthesis of DNA by interacting with enzymes such as oxidative nucleases and protein synthesizing enzymes. It also inhibits the production of hydrogen peroxide, reactive oxygen species, and lipid peroxidation in cells. Hydroxyurethane has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of bacteria, such as H. pylori, through its ability to interfere with energy metabolism and enzyme activities. This drug has also been shown to be effective against tumours in mice. Hydroxyurethane binds to proteins by hydrogen bonding interactions and antibody responses are observed following injections of this drug into hamster cells or CD-1 mice.
