Description:

1,2,6-Hexanetriol is a trioxane that is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of industrial chemicals. 1,2,6-Hexanetriol has been shown to inhibit growth factor-induced proliferation of human cells in vitro and can be used to study the role of growth factors in cancer. It also inhibits 5-hydroxymethylfurfural formation and may have potential for use as an antioxidant. 1,2,6-Hexanetriol can also be used to investigate the role of hydrogenation on chemical reactions. This trioxane has been shown to have a dipole moment that can be used for chemical analyses such as NMR spectra and gas chromatography. 1,2,6-Hexanetriol is water soluble and can be taken up by plants through their roots or leaves.
