This compound also acts as a corrosion inhibitor and can be used as an additive in dimethylformamide. The uv method has been used to determine the structure of 8-hydroxyquinoline-7-carbaldehyde. It was found to have a chromatographic retention time of 3.5 minutes, with an enhancement factor of 1.3, compared to the quinoline derivative.
