2-Hydroxycyclohexanecarboxylic acid is a cyclic monocarboxylic acid that is found as a racemic mixture of cis- and trans- forms. It is an organic acid, and the hydroxy group in the molecule can form esters with fatty acids. 2-Hydroxycyclohexanecarboxylic acid has been found to have biochemical properties including inhibition of liver cells, which may be due to its ability to generate orthophosphoric acid when acted upon by phosphotransferases.
