Product Information
Name:4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenoxyacetic acid
Synonyms:
- HMPHMPA Linker
Brand:Biosynth
Description:4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenoxyacetic acid is a chemical compound that has been found to be an inhibitor of protein synthesis. It has also been shown to inhibit the growth of human leukemia cells, t-cell leukemia cells, and human liver tumor cells. 4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenoxyacetic acid has a ph optimum of 4 and is soluble in water and alcohols. This compound can be synthesized from 4-hydroxymethylbenzoic acid by reacting it with two equivalents of formaldehyde. The reaction is catalyzed by glutaminyl cyclase and acidic pH. 4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenoxyacetic acid is stable to trifluoroacetic acid, but not acidic environments or basic conditions. It has antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1).
