Description:

1-O-Hexadecyl-2-O-methyl-sn-glycerol is a fatty acid that has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in vitro. It has also been shown to have synergistic effects with other agents, such as the antibiotic daptomycin, which inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the peptidoglycan layer. 1-O-Hexadecyl-2-O-methyl-sn-glycerol has also been shown to be able to induce apoptosis in some cancer cells and decrease their ability to migrate. This compound also induces an increase in diacylglycerol levels, which are known for their antiinflammatory properties.
