6-Hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin is a potential drug for cancer treatment. It is a coumarin derivative with a hydroxyl group that can form hydrogen bonds and has high cytotoxicity. 6-Hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin has shown anticancer activity against leukemia, lymphoma, and carcinomas in vitro and in vivo. 6-Hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin inhibits the proliferation of cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis, RNA synthesis, protein synthesis, and cell division. This compound also inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inducing apoptosis.
