Description

2-Hydroxy-4,6-dimethoxyacetophenone is a natural compound that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity in vitro against human colon cancer cells. This compound may be used as an alternative treatment for bowel disease and other conditions by blocking the apoptosis pathway. 2-Hydroxy-4,6-dimethoxyacetophenone binds to DNA, preventing DNA from polymerizing into chromatin and halting the cell cycle. It also inhibits the production of xanthoxylin, which is involved in the formation of cell nuclei. The mechanism of action for this drug is similar to that of chemical pesticides and radiation treatment.
