It has been demonstrated that 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)benzoic acid has affinity for both dopamine D4 receptors and dopamine D3 receptors. 4-(2-Hydroxyethyl)benzoic acid has been shown to be an effective anticancer agent in vitro, as it inhibits proliferation of human cancer cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis.
