4'-Hydroxy-7-methoxyisoflavan is a natural compound found in cruciferous vegetables. It has estrogenic activity and can be used to treat osteoporosis. It also exhibits a high degree of affinity for the benzodiazepine receptor, which may be due to its structural similarity with diazepam. 4'-Hydroxy-7-methoxyisoflavan binds to the benzodiazepine receptor and inhibits the binding of diazepam, preventing it from activating the receptor. This would lead to an increase in bone density and a decrease in bone resorption.
