Description

2'-Hydroxy-6'-methoxychalcone (2HMC) is a natural product that has been shown to have potent antitumor and anti-inflammatory activities. 2HMC reacts with the carbonyl group in its chemical structure to form the intramolecular hydrogen, which is then hydrolyzed by water. The reaction products are dibromides and acidic compounds that can be used to synthesize epoxides and methoxy groups. 2HMC is also capable of inhibiting protein synthesis, DNA replication, and RNA transcription through its reactive properties. This substance may be useful for treating cancer cells as well as inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.
