6-Hydroxyflavanone (6HF) is a natural compound that has been shown to have antitumor, antioxidative, and anti-inflammatory properties. The 6HF inhibits the growth of HL-60 cells by increasing the mitochondrial membrane potential and reducing cellular hydroxyl group content. It also has glucocorticoid receptor binding activity and is able to inhibit nuclear DNA synthesis in human serum. 6HF has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of rat liver microsomes and human primary cells. This compound also induces apoptosis in human lung cancer cells. 6HF inhibits protein synthesis in rat liver microsomes by affecting the function of mitochondria, which are organelles that produce energy for cell function. This compound also has an antitumor effect on rat liver microsomes through its ability to inhibit protein synthesis and induce apoptosis.
