Product Information
- 4-Hydroxy-3-methylphenylacetic acid
- Aceticacid, (4-hydroxy-m-tolyl)- (8CI)
- (4-Hydroxy-3-methylphenyl)acetic acid
2-(4-Hydroxy-3-methylphenyl)acetic acid is a small molecule that has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the enzyme hydroxylase. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of L-4-hydroxymandelic acid to mandelic acid, which is needed for the biosynthesis of L-DOPA, a precursor in the synthesis of dopamine. 2-(4-Hydoxy-3-methylphenyl)acetic acid has been shown to inhibit this reaction by binding to the active site and blocking access.
