Description:3-Hydroxypyrazine-2-carboxamide is a clinical drug that is used to treat herpes simplex virus infections. It has been shown to be effective against pandemic influenza and monoclonal antibodies. 3-Hydroxypyrazine-2-carboxamide inhibits the replication of viruses by acting as a nucleoside analog, which prevents viral RNA from being replicated. 3-Hydroxypyrazine-2-carboxamide also binds to the influenza virus and prevents it from attaching to host cells, inhibiting its ability to infect new cells. In tissue culture, 3HPCA showed antiviral potency against both influenza A and B viruses.
