It is an aromatic hydrocarbon with a high reaction rate. 1,1,2,2,3,3,4-Heptafluoro-Cyclopentane is used as a catalyst for the hydrogenation of unsaturated hydrocarbons to produce saturated hydrocarbons. It can also be used to produce polymers for electrophotographic films with high activation energy.
