Description:2,4-Dimethyl 3-amino-1H-pyrrole-2,4-dicarboxylate is an inhibitor of the enzyme formamidine acetate N-formyltransferase. This compound has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth in vitro and in vivo, and is being investigated as a potential antibacterial agent. 2,4-Dimethyl 3-amino-1H-pyrrole-2,4,-dicarboxylate inhibits the synthesis of formamidines by blocking the enzyme formamidine acetate N-formyltransferase. Formamidines are important for bacterial cell wall synthesis and cell division. This compound also inhibits the growth of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates.
