LG 100754 is a peptide that binds to the all-trans retinoic acid receptor, which results in activation of the nuclear receptors. This activation leads to transcriptional regulation of genes involved in cell growth and differentiation. LG 100754 may be useful for the treatment of chronic bronchitis, diabetes, skin cancer and other cancers. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of mutant melanoma cells and liver cells in vitro. LG100754 has been shown to induce a response element in liver cells that leads to expression of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2).
