It is also a polymorphic solid that can be in either an orthorhombic or monoclinic form. 1-Iodo-3,5-dinitrobenzene is soluble in water and ethanol, and it has a molecular weight of 208.1. 1-Iodo-3,5-dinitrobenzene can be used to synthesize nanogels with diameters ranging from 100 to 400 nm. The nanogels are composed of supramolecular chemistry and can have different shapes (e.g., spheres or rods). 1-Iodo-3,5-dinitrobenzene reacts with amines to form crosslinks and allylation products. These reactions are catalyzed by acid or base catalysis.
