It is soluble in both water and organic solvents, which makes it an ideal choice for sample preparation. 2-Isopropyl-4-methyl thiazole has been shown to inhibit corrosion reactions on steel at pH values between 5 and 8, making it an excellent choice for use as a corrosion inhibitor. 2-Isopropyl-4-methyl thiazole also has been shown to be toxic to rats with a LD50 of 12.5 mg/kg when administered orally.
