Irilone is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the isoflavones in the acetate extract from Irilone. It has shown anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to scavenge anion radicals and block the signal pathways of NF-κB, MAPKs, and STATs. It also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β, which are involved in inflammatory bowel disease. Biochanin A is an isoflavone that has been found to inhibit enzymes such as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and lipoxygenase (LOX).
