Description:Isochroman-1-one is a natural compound that is found in copper chloride acetate extracts of plants. Isochroman-1-one also has antimicrobial activity against human serum and cervical cancer cells. It inhibits the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) such as MMP-9, which are enzymes that degrade extracellular matrix proteins in the body. Isochroman-1-one is synthesized from etoac extract, which is obtained from a plant called Eucalyptus tereticornis. The synthesis involves an asymmetric process with a hydroxyl group as one of the reagents.
