Product Information
- 2-Iodo-m-toluic acid
2-Iodo-3-methylbenzoic acid is a chiral organocatalyst that can be used for allylic oxidation. It has been shown to be more selective than currently used organocatalysts and therefore has the potential to produce fewer by-products. 2-Iodo-3-methylbenzoic acid has been shown to oxidize propiophenone with high selectivity in a single crystal x-ray diffraction study. This compound is one of the most potent natural products for inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and donepezil, which are both used as drugs for Alzheimer's disease treatment. 2-Iodo-3-methylbenzoic acid has also been shown to promote selective transfer of aryl groups from dienes to alcohols in aqueous media.
