Product Information
- 1,2-Oxazol-3-ylmethanol
- Isoxazol-3-Ylmethanol
3-Isoxazolemethanol is an amide that is a zwitterion. It reversibly binds to extracellular hydroxyl groups and has been shown to have potent antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium avium. This compound also binds to the receptor sites on bacteria, inhibiting their growth. 3-Isoxazolemethanol inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the carboxylate group of acyl carrier protein and blocking its conversion into an acyl group, which is essential for cell wall biosynthesis.
