Product Information

Name:
Isopropyl chlorosulfonate
Synonyms:
  • 1-Methylethyl ester chlorosulfuric acid
Description:

Isopropyl chlorosulfonate is a fluorinated anion that is used as an acid catalyst. It has been shown to have hypoglycemic activity in muscle cells and act as a vasodilator. Isopropyl chlorosulfonate is commonly used as an agrochemical, but can also be found in metal cation complexes. This anion binds to divalent metal cations such as magnesium or calcium, which are important for maintaining cell viability. Isopropyl chlorosulfonate has been shown to have toxic effects on the central nervous system and liver when administered orally in rats. It also reacts with proteins containing sulfhydryl groups to form protein adducts, which may lead to cancer.
