Isoprene monoxide has high resistance to radiation, which may be due to its ability to form crosslinks with DNA, thereby shielding it from the effect of ionizing radiation. Isoprene monoxide also reacts with epoxides to form epoxy esters and is an important precursor for a wide range of polymer materials.
