Isopentadecanoic acid is a fatty acid that is found in adipose tissue. It is a major component of the oil solution obtained from hydrogenated vegetable oil. Isopentadecanoic acid has been shown to have therapeutic potential for autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Isopentadecanoic acid inhibits the production of cytokines, which are proteins that regulate immune responses. It also inhibits the growth of bacteria by preventing protein synthesis, leading to cell death.
