Indigo-sols are a class of high quality, versatile building blocks. They are useful in the synthesis of complex organic compounds and can be used as a reagent for reactions such as the Wittig reaction. Indigo-sols are an important intermediate for the production of indigo dye and have been shown to be useful scaffolds for drug discovery research. Indigo-sols have also been shown to exhibit antiviral activity against HIV protease, influenza neuraminidase, and herpes simplex virus type 1 protease. The CAS number is 3875-70-5.
