Description:Iopentol is a calcium salt of the drug ioxaglate that is used as a contrast medium for medical imaging. Iopentol has been shown to be safe and effective in children by reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure, enhancing renal function, and increasing the glomerular filtration rate in pediatric patients. Iopentol is also used for diagnostic purposes in angiography procedures. It has been found to have few side effects, such as a decrease in magnesium levels and an increase in radiation exposure.
