Indole-3-propionamide is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to have preventative effects against autoimmune diseases. It inhibits the production of IL-2, an important cytokine in the immune system, and also has an inhibitory effect on energy metabolism. Indole-3-propionamide has been shown to be neuroprotective in animal models and clinical studies have shown it to be safe for use in humans. Studies have also revealed its ability to bind to the IL2 receptor and inhibit cell proliferation.
