2-Iodophenylboronic acid is an aromatic compound that can be used in organic reactions. It has a carbonyl group and a borinic acid group, which can act as nucleophiles. 2-Iodophenylboronic acid is soluble in trifluoroacetic acid, but not water. The reaction time for the formation of the phenoxazine product is about 12 hours at room temperature and 24 hours at 0°C. It is necessary to use a large excess of amine, usually 10 equivalents, to avoid side reactions with halides such as bromine. 2-Iodophenylboronic acid reacts with amides to form the corresponding borinic esters. 2-Iodophenylboronic acid was prepared by reacting phenol with boron trioxide in the presence of iodine and sodium hydroxide.
