This reaction mechanism is important in the production of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and pesticides. Iodobenzene also has antiinflammatory activity that may be due to its ability to inhibit leukocyte migration into inflamed tissue by altering the expression of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines.
