Product Information
9-(4-Iodophenyl)-9H-carbazole is a fluorescent dye that has been used in devices for fluorometric analysis. It reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a blue fluorescence, and it can be introduced into living cells by adding the dye to the medium. 9-(4-Iodophenyl)-9H-carbazole is an analog of phenazine, which is also a fluorescent dye. 9-(4-Iodophenyl)-9H-carbazole can be synthesized from triazine, as well as other chemicals such as benzoyl chloride and sodium iodide. This chemical has been shown to have efficiencies of up to 100%. The quaternization reaction of this compound with various alkyl halides leads to the formation of 9-(halogenoalkyl) derivatives, which are more soluble than their parent compounds. The melting point of this compound is high, at around 350°C.
