1H-Indazole-5-carbonitrile is a synthetic organic compound with the chemical formula C7H4N2. It is an isomer of indazoles, which are heterocyclic compounds composed of a 5-member ring containing one nitrogen and four carbon atoms. 1H-Indazole-5-carbonitrile is used as a catalyst for the transfer reaction in ionic liquids. This chemical also has been shown to be an effective phase transfer catalyst for alkylation reactions. The cyano group on this molecule can react with hydrogen to form cyanohydrins and ammonia.
