It has been shown to inhibit the tyrosine kinase activity of the BCR-ABL protein and to induce apoptosis in chronic myeloid leukemia cells. 3-Iodobenzamide binds to the dopamine D2 receptor, which leads to inhibition of adenylate cyclase and decreased levels of cAMP. The binding affinity of 3-iodobenzamide for dopamine receptors and its ability to inhibit cAMP production make it an ideal candidate for use in studies on striatal membrane preparations and homogenates.
