Isoscopoletin is a natural compound that has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects in rat liver microsomes. Isoscopoletin has also been shown to have matrix effects on liver cells, which may be related to its coumarin derivatives. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties, which are mediated through the M2 phenotype of macrophages and may contribute to its anti-inflammatory effect. Isoscopoletin is found in the extracts of Etoac (a plant) and Acetate (a fruit). It can be extracted from these plants either by boiling or by maceration. Isoscopoletin can also be found in sesquiterpene lactones, such as alpha-humulene, beta-caryophyllene, and beta-bisabolene. These compounds have biological activities against inflammatory bowel disease.
