4-Isopropoxyaniline is a chemical compound that has been found to have antitumor activity. It blocks the action of betaines, which are compounds that are involved in the regulation of cell function and proliferation. The 4-isopropoxyaniline molecule inhibits the production of tumour cells by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins required for cellular division. This drug also inhibits the growth of cells in chronic pain, as well as UV irradiation. The drug has been shown to be cytotoxic to cancer cells, with high rates of cytotoxicity for l1210 leukemia cells and high levels of inhibition against ethyl group-bearing tumors. 4-Isopropoxyaniline also has a residue effect at low concentrations, which may be due to its ability to block DNA replication and bind with nitrogen atoms from amino acids.
