3-Indazolinone is a pharmacological agent that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by interacting with a hydroxyl group in the active site. 3-Indazolinone has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo, as well as to suppress tumor growth. It also inhibits viral replication by binding to the protonated nitrogen atom of the phosphate backbone, which prevents the formation of new DNA strands. 3-Indazolinone has antiinflammatory activity and can be used for autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis. The compound is a tautomeric mixture of two isomers that have different biological activities: 3-indazolin-2(3H)-on (IA) and 3-indazolin-2(5H)-on (IB). IA is a growth factor for some types of cancer cells, while IB does not show any growth enhancing properties. The compound has an oxygenated carbonyl group
